I'm a new player and I'm currently flying a rupture and I'm looking for some basic tactics vs frigates - in particular assualt frigs and inties. had a good search through the forums but cant really find anything.
Heres my fitting:
[Rupture, armour tanked] Gyrostabilizer II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Stasis Webifier II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Warp Scrambler II
Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M Dual 180mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M 50W Infectious Power System Malfunction Small Nosferatu II
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Ancillary Current Router I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Been having some practise 1v1's vs a friend in his inty and assualt frig and i just cant hit him at all when hes orbiting me at like 500m.
I'm particularly interested in how exactly I should be using the medium neut and the best way to lower his traversal. Even with the medium neut running hes still able to maintain tackle on me (hes got a small nos).
From what ive read I *think* I am supposed to neut him till hes forced to turn scram off, then I pulse MWD to get abit of range and lower his traversal, is this correct? Now this sounds good in theory but as I said, with the nos hes still got cap to maintain tackle so I cant get the mwd pulse off, meaning he just continues orbiting me at close range and slowly wears my tank down. Am I doing something wrong with the neut? or is my only hope to rely on drones vs frigates?
Thanks,
Xuthi
p.s I've had a good look and the only skill I can find for increasing turrent tracking is motion prediction, which I currently have at level 4 - is there anything else I should be looking at and how much difference would getting it to level 5 make , vs frigates? (I will be getting it to level 5 regardless, just wondered how game breaking that extra level is)
Your fit isn't bad. Swap out the nos for a neut, as has been mentioned. Also, another trimark would be better than the pg rig. If you can't fit everything without the pg rig, use 2 small neuts.
Basically, when fighting a frigate with your Rupture, you should scram, web, and neut the target. If you have 2 small neuts, stagger them.
Put your drones on the target. Then align to something, like a planet. Do not try to orbit him or keeping at range, as your guns will not track him this way. Aligning lowers transversal.
You will quickly cap him out. As soon as you can use your mwd, pulse it (be careful not to go out of your scram's range, or he might get away). If he's not dead yet, he will be soon.
Throughout the 20 or so seconds it takes to kill him, watch your drones and recall and relaunch them if you see that they are receiving damage. It helps to have keyboard shortcuts for this.
You might also try a shield Rupture:
[Rupture, New Setup 1] Gyrostabilizer II Gyrostabilizer II Tracking Enhancer II Tracking Enhancer II Damage Control II
Warp Disruptor II Large Shield Extender II Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive
425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M 425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M 425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M 425mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP M Medium Energy Neutralizer II [use t1 if you have fitting issues] Small Energy Neutralizer II
3x Medium Core Defence Field Extender I
Warrior II x5
The strategy with the shield fit would be the same if the encounter starts in scram range. If the encounter starts out of scram range, you can orbit your target at like 17KM, or keep range at that distance.
You will be faster than almost all (if not all) frigates that have afterburners fitted. The target will be dead before he can even throw a scram on you.
